How do I change the top menu with Intrepidity? I know I can exclude pages in the settings, but I would prefer to make it a custom menu, with a mix of links from my pages and categories.
I've searched the templates and grepped the folder, but the code for this is not to be found. Is this being called from the WP core? I simply want to replace the current menu structure with my own.
I would also like to know the answer to this question.
When viewing the source code from a browser the standard code is shown (e.g. <li class="page_item page-item-3">) but I cannot find where to change it from the wordpress editor to show categories.

It's official. I'm an idiot and overlooked it. Hammer, the menu is in the footer. It's then moved into place with css.
artjunky is right. The top navigation is generated in footer.php. We intentionally coded that way for SEO. Search engines will craw through the content first and then reach the site navigation.
I am very new to word press (this week) and edegree (yesterday). I'm trying to create a site for a band that they can edit themselves later. I love that edegree lets me make their site look like them! While I am playing with it, the site is at http://theevening.andreagoodman.com. I want their blog pages to be part of the top menu instead of in the sidebar as a widget. I fixed style.css so wp can see the theme. I found a place in the footer that says to uncomment if you want categories at the top, but when I did that, it changed everything and I lost my pages in the top menu. How can I make the categories just another menu item along with the pages (with hierarchical drop down lists)? I want their fans to be able to get to their blogs right away instead of having to scroll down. Note: I am not a web developer, so wading through code is not trivial for me, although I can do it. I've had the same problem with regard to header tabs. Evidently, the code is in the Footer php. However, my problem is now that I have two tabs for the same page. My home page is a static page. For some strange reason, now there's also a tab with the page's title on it. The title is way too long for a tab.
I'd like to get rid of the home tab and change the permalink for the home page to read shorter for the tab. Is there a way to do this?
If not, how would I delete the named tab and keep the home tab without having a duplicate?

I took it one step further, and put the top-level categories across the nav bar horizontally, rather than the default top-level "Topics" with the categories in a drop-down list. To do so, here's the code needed for that section:
